We were pleased to see mainstream media talking about the amazing potential of the Hoodia Gordonii plant. While the story made some good points, we would have preferred to see a stronger discussion on the science of Hoodia and what documents are necessary to make sure you are getting pure hoodia.

In terms of does Hoodia work? Here are some quotes from the segment...

"Eat it and you won't want to eat anything else — a secret bushmen have known for ages and a mystery to the West no more."

Texan Walter Parks bought his bottle on the Internet. “I would say yes, that it is the magic bullet plant,” Parks say.

One of the issues for dieters is that there are so many products with the label hoodia on them, it's hard to know the difference between them, or if they work at all.

The point that came across was that for many people Hoodia does work to suppress appetite but more research is necessary AND it can be very hard to find pure hoodia in a bottle. Here is the question and answer on how to select a Hoodia product...

Madelyn Fernstrom: We all believe on the internet that everything must be true. You can not trust the claims that are made by any companies because there is no regulation. The best thing to do is to make sure, if you are going to try this, is that there is a 800 number or a site you can visit to see what is the demonstration that there is some purity. Give me some idea MORE than you're just telling me it is pure or authentic.

On this point - we think the Today Show got it dead on! Every site claims to have the best Hoodia - but that does not mean anything. You need to see documentation on purity and have a toll free number to call for support and deal with a legitimate company.
